Musical selections from icons like Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Louis Armstrong, and John Coltrane will demonstrate the powerful fusion of gospel and jazz.

Jazz at Lincoln Center Education Residency Ensemble

Jazz at Lincoln Center Education Residency Ensemble will feature the amazing talents of Pharez Whitted on trumpet, Walter Blanding on woodwinds, Jennifer Krupa on trombone, and Domo Branch on drums! They will be visiting St. Louis to engage with students in the area for a week of performances, clinics, and masterclasses before they will take over the Ferring Jazz Bistro stage for these memorable performances.

Kendrick Smith
Feb. 21-22
Saxophonist Kendrick Smith will honor the life and work of his mentor Hamiet Bluiett. Bluiett, who is known for his unique style and five octave range, was an innovator on the baritone saxophone. With a discography of over 50 albums, including blues, jazz, gospel, hip-hop, and avant garde, this show will highlight Bluiett’s work and the lessons his last student learned from him.
Peter Martin
Feb. 26-28
Peter Martin is an acclaimed jazz pianist, composer, arranger, educator, and entrepreneur whose career has taken him to six continents and included performances at the White House by invitation of President Obama. A Juilliard-trained musician and former faculty member at institutions like Tulane University and the University of New Orleans, Peter has founded Open Studio, an innovative jazz education platform with students in over 120 countries.

Lakecia Benjamin
Feb. 28 – Mar 2
Lakecia Benjamin is a 5-time GRAMMY-nominated saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator whose music blends jazz, funk, R&B, and hip-hop. Known for her warm tone and dynamic performances, she has collaborated with artists such as Missy Elliott, Alicia Keys, Gregory Porter, and Terri Lyne Carrington. Benjamin has released several acclaimed albums, including Pursuance: The Coltranes (2020) and Phoenix (2023), which earned three GRAMMY nominations. A New York City native, she studied at the New School under jazz legends like Gary Bartz and Reggie Workman, honing her craft while touring with luminaries across genres.
